Book Club Shares Gift of Reading

GIFTING BOOKS TO CHILDREN

December 26, 2007

This year, instead of exchanging presents among themselves, Yale Road Book Club members presented Castano School in East Palo Alto with a gift of more than 100 books. They would like to see other book clubs do the same.

Yale Road Book Club was founded four years ago by Barbara Tyler of Menlo Park. Ms. Tyler is best know locally as “superstar” real estate agent. In 1997, ranked No. 2 in sales internationally out of 62,000 agents working for Coldwell Banker. She is now retired.

“With our love of books and literature, we felt it fitting to share our passion this holiday season with children, and to encourage them to read,” says Ms. Tyler

Gina Sudaria, vice principal of Costano, said the szchool had been trying to get a grant this year to purchase more books but had been having difficulty. The donated books are suitable for children from preschool to fourth grade.
